Leading University Entrusts Preston Agency With Supporting Their Marketing Team

3ManFactory have continued their fantastic start to 2015 by securing a contract with the University of Central Lancashire. The work was awarded after an intense tender process that covered producing a variety of work including promotional video and a full digital campaign, with the process culminating in a formal presentation. Despite tough competition from national agencies they secured a place as one of a small number of agencies supporting the Universities marketing team.

UCLan now has over 32,000 students and is in the top 1% of universities worldwide for international students. Their marketing team not only have to look at areas such as undergraduate and postgraduate recruitment and retention but also liaising and partnering with business and industry. This wide audience means work will no doubt be challenging but equally exciting and rewarding.

They have been working with UCLan for a number of years already having delivered many lectures and workshops, developed brand concepts and designed websites for projects and schools across the University but this new contract will really deepen that relationship. 3ManFactory know first hand their high standards, and as UCLan looks to push forward with with their own plans for the future, they feel this sits nicely with their own future plans and business growth.

We wish them the best of luck!

POWWOW, the networking event run by Creative Lancashire, returns to town for a second time!

The last time POWWOW was in Preston was on the 16th July at Glovers and as it was such a huge success, they’ve decided to do it again.

POWWOW is again, being hosted at Glovers Bar on 15th October from 6pm – 8pm. And with free entry, food and drink included, is a great opportunity to mingle with other businesses, freelancers and students at this exciting event!
Ourselves, and our friends 3ManFactory and Glovers Bar, are the sponsors for POWWOW this time.

Ed Matthews-Gentle from Creative Lancashire said: “The idea behind POWWOW is to give people from the Creative Sector more opportunities to talk, share ideas and network.

“We held the first POWWOW in Preston and it was a big success, so we’re pleased to be holding another one in the city. A similar event in Lancaster also went down well.

“There’ll be no speakers and no advisors. It’s just a great chance to meet up with like-minded creative people, share ideas and develop partnerships.

“The event is aimed at businesses, freelancers and students who want to connect with future employers and explore opportunities – everyone’s welcome!

“For freelancers and students, it could be a chance to collaborate with businesses and gain useful experience. While for businesses, it’s a good chance to talk to some of Lancashire’s emerging creative talents.” – Courtesy of Blog Preston.

By Comments Off on 3ManFactory Pass Their PRCA Audit!

3ManFactory found out recently that they’d passed the PRCA Communications Management Standard (CMS) audit – and we’re delighted for them!

3ManFactory PRCA

Who Are The PRCA?

The Public Relations Consultants Association represent 12,000 PR practitioners in agencies, in-house comms teams  & freelancers & aim to raise standards in PR. As the largest PR association in Europe, they are essentially the governing body for PR, keeping agencies and in house teams in check & constantly helping to raise industry standards.

What Is The CMS Audit?

The audit is a hallmark of PR excellence – internationally recognised in 17 countries & given out to only the agencies, teams & individuals who meet the stringent criteria set by the PRCA. An auditer spends a day in your business – they go through all your paperwork, processes & digital logs, looking at everything from project management to staff to business visions and management structures.

What Does Passing Mean For 3ManFactory?

It’s proven what we already knew. That they run their business well, meet the required industry standards and are growing rapidly. For their clients both now & in the future, it means they know they are working with an agency that has the correct procedures in place at every level of the business. As a business it means they can move forward & grow, confident that the foundations they have in place are strong and flexible enough to deal with expansion. Finally, it means they’re a very happy team!

Top 5 Web Design Trends of 2014 – Guest Blog

Guest blog by our client, Web Leap Solutions

The world of web as we know is over 20 years old and has become part and parcel of everyone’s life. As we all know that with anything that grows, the world wide web has changed dramatically over the last two decades and the website design techniques – the look and feel of your brand has constantly evolved to enhanced the user experience.

I am sure you must have come across the best 20, 30 or even 100 trends for your website design to follow in 2014 but not all of the upcoming trends are appropriate for your website or target audience. Here at Web Leap Solutions Ltd, we will take you to the most popular 5 upcoming trends so you can effectively and efficiently reach your visitors.

1. Parallax scrolling:

For those who don’t know what Parallax scrolling means, this effect changes the graphics or animations when you scroll past them on a page. It brings life to the websites adding real depth to especially images and text with a big statement.

This scrolling technique boosts the wow-factor of your website with its powerful imagery and strongly creative typography. In year 2014, you will see more and more of parallax effect on most of the websites who are planning to follow the trend.

2. Flat web design:
If you are using iOS7, the design aesthetic that’s being used is known as “Flat Web Design”. This design is also very widely used by popular social media site – Facebook and also by Gmail to bring user interface that capitalizes on simplicity. Using drop shadows, heavy gradients, 3D effects and images are all part of past trends as they don’t add value to the content or the website.

If redesigning website is on your agenda for 2014, then emphasis should be on creative typography, bold lines, and two colour schemes with saturated colours. By keeping in mind the responsive website, this design technique will enhance your website bringing cleaner look that’s easier to scan through for your visitors. We don’t expect this trend to end in 2014.

3. Typography – using Larger than life fonts:
Well, it’s time to say goodbye to very old and popular fonts like Times New roman, Helvetica or Arial! In 2014, it will be all about typography with large text that’s grab attention, make it more readable and easier on the eyes. The storm of mobile apps we’ve all been exposed to, and our eyes have seen all sorts of typography goodies which has had a major factor in our font usage expectations.

It’s time for web designers to add uniqueness and personality to the fonts they are using in logos and on website with their artistic approach. We’ve already seen in some of the websites where the fonts can be fun and playful while others are artistic with out of the box creativity but still look professional. You can expect to see many more websites taking the route of going off the track typography trend in 2014.

4. Slide out menus:
A visitor wants to view the website and their content without distraction which allows a more visual impact of your website. A slide out menu works perfectly well either in the top or side of your screen to reveal the rest of the site’s content in a flawless way.
These menus are increasing in functionality with clear and concise navigation for your site. This is a perfect menu to consider if you have plenty of information to share with your visitors.

5. Fixed navigation:
One of the most essential aspects of creating the user experience of a website is navigation bar. Adding a fixed header to your website can improve the user experience and make the navigation easier and faster to locate.

This technique removes the need for users to scroll back right to the top of the page and improves usability while staying sleek and compact. We’ll be seeing fixed header all over 2014 for sure.

Merry Christmas, Derian House!

By Comments Off on Merry Christmas, Derian House!

On Monday 16th December Amy, Jon and Abbie delivered all the presents donated by our clients at the Christmas Party to Derian House.

We were given a tour of the facilities by Jill Kirkam, Community Fundraiser, and learned in more detail about the services and Care Derian House offer to children, young people and their families.

Amy Abbie Jon Derian House

Derian House is renowned throughout the region as being at the forefront of children’s palliative and respite care.

Families who have a child with a life shortening condition can choose from a range of care and support services to meet their individual needs which include; short planned breaks in Derian House, Hospice at Home, sibling support group, end of life care and support at home, or in Derian House, and bereavement support after the death of a child.

They currently support more than 300 families who have a child with a life shortening illness, and a further 200 who are receiving bereavement support. For them Derian House is the means by which they deal with the highs and lows of their child’s illness and its aftermath.

Roya Armstrong from Derian House said;

‘We are truly overwhelmed by all the gifts we received from Cotton Court and are extremely grateful to all those who donated. It’s people like these who keep the hospice going as we rely heavily on public donations here at Derian House. The presents have been distributed amongst the children already and have gone down an absolute storm!’

We would like to wish all the staff, children and young people at Derian House a very merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from everyone at Cotton Court!

Cotton Court Christmas Party in Aid of Derian House

By Comments Off on Cotton Court Christmas Party in Aid of Derian House

On Friday 6th December it was the annual Cotton Court Christmas Party held at Glovers bar. There was a great party atmosphere, with around 150 people in attendance, and it was great to see so many familiar faces.

The team at Cotton Court would like to say a huge thank you to everyone that attended and made the night so enjoyable, and an even bigger thank you to everyone for the amount of gifts that were brought for the children of Derian House, our chosen charity.

We offered guests a free bar, buffet and live music and asked them in return to bring a gift for Derian House.
