Cotton Court Business Centre

Author: Amy Blundell

A year ago today, I started working at Cotton Court as a Receptionist/ business admin apprentice.

In the past year I have learnt new skills to do with administration, customer service and business operations. I am hoping to learn more about the financial side of things, like invoices and billing.

At the moment, the main jobs I do day to day include receptionist duties like call answering, mail handling, and greeting customers, sorting out the office and studio admin and also checking the conference rooms when they are in use.

I like being part of the Cotton Court team because it is a great place to work as it always has a nice atmosphere, whoever is in the building. I especially like doing the administration in the office and answering the phones as well, whether it’s for Cotton Court, or for other businesses.

Currently, I am completing my Level 2 apprenticeship course, and I am also considering moving onto Level 3 in October.

I love working in business, so in the future I am hoping to pursue working in a business environment, like being a personal assistant for someone.

On 23rd July, Cotton Court attended Lancashire Business Awards 2015, which was hosted at Dunkenhalgh Hotel and Spa.

At this great event, Lancashire’s best businesses attended and were nominated for 21 awards.

Cotton Court was sat at a prime spot at table 5 on the night. The team on our table included Robert Binns, Amy Blundell, Chelsea Chard and Penny Howard. We also invited guests from Allied Lighting, Bird, Custard and Vibe Tickets, to sit with us.

We were nominated for two awards on the night, one of them being ‘Best Business Enabler of the Year’, and the second; our Amy Blundell was up for ‘Best PA of the Year’.

We are proud to be supporting the very first Best of Britannia North event on 15th – 17th May.  The event has the support of Marketing Lancashire, Creative Lancashire and Preston City Council and aims to continue the ethos of BOB and taking it to the heart of a county renowned globally as the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution. The BOB team are delighted to be breathing new life into the former Central Post Office building in the historic Flag Market where they will be creating our unique pop-up department store experience as well as replicating the buzz of the food and drink courtyard by utilising the wrought-iron Victorian grandeur of the adjacent covered market.

We Launch Digital Marketing Training

By Comments Off on We Launch Digital Marketing Training

Lancashire Digital Academy is offering a new funded training course to eligible businesses in the Lancashire area. The training course is about Digital Marketing Essentials.

On the 22nd May, I attended the first part of the new training course, which was run by Tom Stables from 3ManFactory.

Throughout the first session, I learnt about different ways of marketing on different social media. On the social media subject, I also learnt about social media as lead generation, brand monitoring and intelligence, and case studies to illustrate best practice.

The second part of the training was on the 29th May, in this session, I learnt about finding an audience when digital marketing, analysing current marketing activities and also looking at a digital marketing checklist development.

As well, we also discussed what language is appropriate to be used on Social media. For example, what tone you should be using when speaking to someone on social media.

At the training, the thing that I found useful was when we learnt about using different social media to market and advertise the business. For example, I learnt how to use Flickr, Instagram and Pinterest to advertise Cotton Court’s services.

This training was delivered in one of our conference rooms, here at Cotton Court.
